Happy Birthday Vickie Jenkins!
Happy Birthday to one of my all-time favorite women, Vickie Jenkins! I originally met Vickie back in the '70s, when she appeared in two plays for Tom Rusch's Covenant Ark Theatre. I shot this photo when she was playing one of Tevye's daughters in "Fiddler on the Roof" in 1977. That's Vickie on the left. She also played the lead role of Eliza Doolittle when CAT did "My Fair Lady" in 1979. The actress in the center of this photo was known as Pixie O'Donnell at the time, but her stage name now is Bettina Warren. (Pixie's birthday was April 10, by the way, so a Belated Happy Birthday to her too!) I pretty much had lost touch with both Vickie and Pixie during the '80s and '90s, but in recent years they've both reappeared in my life. Yay! These days Vickie sings with an early music vocal ensemble known as Pacific Camerata, while Pixie/Bettina has been performing an excellent one-woman (with two names!) cabaret act at the Hilton/Del Mar for Show Must Go On Productions. (P.S. -- The actress on the right was Valerie Keffala -- I don't know what became of her.)Posted at 10:03 AM in Birthdays, DMG's Friends, Theater
