Eve Selis Seeks Cancer Walk Sponsors

Singer Eve Selis has sent me plenty of e-mails in the past about her upcoming performances, but I got one from her this week that wasn't about music. This one told why Eve was making a last-minute decision to participate in this Sunday's "Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer," an event I already knew about because my friend Marisa Cullen recently told me she will be doing the walk.

Here's Eve's message (with a picture I shot of her in 2002):

Eve SelisI normally don't use my e-mail list for personal reasons, but this is different. Last week my family found out my 44-year-old sister Gabrielle has breast cancer. Her prognosis is good because they caught it early, but it is still cancer and we are all devastated.

I found a brochure a few days ago about an event sponsored by the City Of Hope called "Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer." It's a 5K walk that takes place this Sunday, May 16th, at Tecolote Shores Park North in Mission Bay. You can get more details about the event from both City of Hope and I am sending out an e-mail to my fans to see if anyone would like to join us for the walk or sponsor me. It can be as little as $5 or as much as you want. I had a gig Monday night and appealed to everyone there to sponsor me. I received $170!!

I've been buying breast cancer stamps for 5 years now, as I've unfortunately been asked to sing at funerals for two sisters in one family and wanted to do something to make a difference. Now this is very personal and I'm on a crusade... because now breast cancer runs in my family. I have 4 sisters and 12 nieces and this has to stop right here.

If you are interested in helping me make a difference, please e-mail me at You can deposit your donation into my PayPal account using that same address, or send a check made out to City Of Hope to:
