Gary Seiler & Taylor Harvey Share Stage

Gary SeilerI met both Gary Seiler and Taylor Harvey during the early days of the San Diego Parrot Head Club in 1996-97. Gary's band Buffed Out frequently performed at SDPHC events, and Taylor was a former member of Buffed Out who often played with them or other bands that specialized in the music of Jimmy Buffett. Buffed Out also served as Tim Flannery's band back then. Tomorrow, Saturday, September 11, Gary and Taylor will team up again to play at a house concert in Chula Vista.

Taylor HarveyBoth Gary and Taylor have broadened their horizons considerably in recent years, and each of them now performs quite a few songs they've written themselves. I shot the photo above of Gary in July when he played a solo gig at Sunset Plaza in Ocean Beach. The photo to the right of Taylor is one I shot at his CD release party in May, which was a well-attended house concert at Cheri Robertson's home in La Mesa.

THE TAYLOR HARVEY BAND: A Place To Call My OwnI last saw Taylor at that release party for his CD "A Place To Call My Own." You can click on the picture of it to hear samples of the songs. It's currently the second most-visited CD here at ShyCloud.com!

Taylor also will be at Fanny's in Spring Valley from 9 p.m.-1:30 a.m. tonight, Friday, September 10. Located at 9143 Campo Rd., just north of 94 and around the corner from Bancroft, Fanny's is a neighborhood bar with pool tables, shuffleboard and live music. Taylor also is still playing his usual solo gigs at the Chula Vista Brewery from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. on Saturday nights, and on Sunday afternoons from 3-7 p.m. at the Plank in Imperial Beach.

Here's some info from Gary's web site:

I'll be teaming up with Taylor Harvey for a house concert in Chula Vista on Saturday, September 11th. Musically, Taylor and I go back over a dozen years. When we opened the Jan and Dean Concert in 1993, it was Tim Flannery, Me, AND Taylor up there in front of 30,000 people. We got history... We will both be doing some new songs as well as reaching back to some of those that we did in those early years.

Show time is 1:00 p.m. The address is 858 Buen Tiempo Drive. Please contact John & Alice Rynd at 619-482-1444 for all the info.

A few special guests will be joining me at 5:30 for an evening set of songs and entertainment as the sun sets over the Blue Pacific. This house has a great sunset view!!! Bring a bathing suit, towel, and a beach chair.
