Happy Birthday Leigh Scarritt!

Leigh ScarrittHappy Birthday to Leigh Scarritt, one of San Diego's most popular and versatile entertainers! She's an actress, singer, musician, dancer, songwriter, playwright, director, choreographer and producer, who has worked at many of the best performance venues in this area!

Tomorrow, Friday, October 1, Show Must Go On Productions and Schroeder's Club and Cabaret will present Leigh and her talented daughter Tiffany Scarritt in a very special performance. The next night, Saturday, October 2, SMGO's founding diva Bettina "Pixie" Warren will be the featured artist at Schroeder's.

I met Leigh and Tiffany in 2003 when I photographed three plays at Coronado Playhouse, where Leigh was teaching musical theater classes to children, teenagers (including Tiffany) and adults. I've taken dozens of photos of Leigh and her students. I shot the one above of Leigh during a cabaret show she performed for SMGO this past April at the Del Mar Hilton.

I've known Pixie much longer -- since 1976, when she was a 16-year-old usher for "Camelot," Tom Rusch's annual Covenant Ark Theatre summer show. A year later Pixie was on the stage herself, playing one of Tevye's daughters in "Fiddler on the Roof"!

Here is an e-mail from SMGO's Sher Krieger:

What a weekend we have coming up at Schroeder's!!! On Friday Leigh and Tiffany Scarritt will showcase their talents individually and then show us what they can do together. We're in for a real treat! Our resident diva, Bettina "Pixie" Warren, returns on Saturday to entertain and amuse you. Another wonderful evening!

Both shows start at 8:00 and the doors open at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $22 each and reservations are suggested. Please e-mail or call 858-794-9044 for reservations and/or more information. Food, sodas and cocktails are available at the Westin's Lobby Bar.
