Happy Birthday Michael Rosenthal!
Happy Birthday to my old pal Michael Rosenthal! I shot this picture last year of Mike with his karaoke posse during his 40th birthday party at the Navajo Second Wind Bar.
I met Mike way back in 1987. One day I was unloading my first Apple IIgs computer from my van and Mike just happened to ride by on his bicycle. He noticed the big Apple logo on the box and cruised over to see what I had. Turned out he too was a big fan of Apple computers. Since he only lived a few blocks away, we ended up becoming Apple II buddies. A couple of years later Mike even talked me into getting my first modem, which led to me starting my own computer bulletin board system called Pro-Harold.cts.com in 1991. I ran it for five years, then closed it down late in 1996 and created my first web page, which soon turned into ShyCloud.com. Indirectly, therefore, this web site is Mike's fault!
Mike had moved to San Diego from Toms River, New Jersey, a year or so before I met him, and sadly, he ended up moving back there again this past March. The bad news is he's still there and miserable. The good news is he's coming back to San Diego for a week-long visit in mid-October! Warm up the karaoke machines!
P.S. -- Let it be known that I myself hate karaoke!Posted at 10:53 AM in Birthdays, DMG's Friends
