Buffed Out Band At Dick's Last Resort
If you're a fan of Jimmy Buffett, you'll want to be at Dick's Last Resort in the Gaslamp Quarter this Thursday evening, October 7, when the San Diego Parrot Head Club will hold its annual pre-concert Buffett bash (his current tour's only Southern California appearance is October 20 at Coors Amphitheater) as a benefit for SDPHC Charities. The big party starts at 5:30 p.m. and will include food and drink specials, a silent auction, opportunity drawings and contests.
My friend Gary Seiler and his band Buffed Out will provide music from 5:30-10:30. I shot the picture above of Gary (left) and Buffed Out's bass player Steve Azola last November at a benefit concert for Steve King, the band's cancer-stricken drummer. Sadly, I learned today in Jerry Gontang's weekly e-mail that Steve passed away last week. I never really knew Steve King, but a number of my friends did and they all loved him. My heart goes out to them and to Steve's family and other friends.
Gary put out a great CD in 2002 called "Living On Dreams," but it only recently became available on CDBaby.com. If you'd like to hear samples of the songs on the CD, click on this picture of it. My personal favorite is a tune called "Mexico (Things Never Change When You're There)."
Here's more info about Thursday from Gary's web site:
