Happy Birthday Tammie and Guy!
I'd like to wish a Happy Birthday today to two people I met during my years taking pictures for Tom Rusch's Covenant Ark Theatre -- Tammie (Jackson) O'Dell and Guy Sawyer!
I met Tammie in 1976 during CAT's summer production of "Camelot," but I didn't really get to know her until the following year, when our show was "Fiddler on the Roof." I had been tremendously shy around girls during my high school and college years, so when Tammie and I started dating she became my first real girlfriend. I shot this picture of her near the end of the summer of '77. For various reasons, Tammie and I didn't last, but she always will be one of my favorite ex-girlfriends! She has two sons and has lived in Sedro Woolley, Washington, for quite a few years.
I'm not sure what year Guy joined Covenant Ark Theatre, because it seems like he always was there the entire time I was, which was 1974-80. He was just one of the kids at first, but eventually he grew up and we became friends. That's Guy on the right in this photo I shot during the lodge scene of 1980's "Bye Bye Birdie." He was dancing after gorgeous Lisa Doria, who was playing Rosie. In the '80s, Guy visited me many times to play basketball on my backyard hoop. We had some spirited one-on-one duels, and he won most of them with splendid long-range shots, but sometimes I got hot or lucky and pulled an upset! These days Guy lives in Murrieta, California, with his wife Kim and their four daughters.
Thanks to both Tammie and Guy for some great memories from a lot of fun times together!Posted at 9:55 AM in Birthdays, DMG's Friends, Theater
