Welcome Home 34Below At Dublin Square!
When we last heard from Carlsbad-based rock band 34Below in September, they were stuck in traffic somewhere outside New Orleans, Louisiana, trying to avoid Hurricane Ivan! It seems the boys made it through safely, though, because at 9 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, October 27, they will return to the Gaslamp Quarter's Dublin Square Irish Pub for a Welcome Back Party! I shot this photo of 34Below at Dublin Square back on June 9th.
Following that performance, 34Below (who used to be known as Liquid Groove) left on a West Coast tour in support of their newest album, which just happens to be called "Live at Dublin Square"! Click on the CD to hear samples from it.
I saw 34Below again in mid-July at Humphrey's Backstage Lounge, where they totally rocked a mixture of their own fans and those of Hootie & the Blowfish, who had played a concert earlier on the outdoor stage. Hootie himself even showed up to party, along with some other members of the band! Here's a picture I shot that night of Hootie with an attractive mother-daughter duo named Ginger and Nina. Notice how I carefully included 34Below's logo!
34Below left California soon after that gig and spent all of August traveling in a van from the top of the East Coast down to the bottom of it, providing music for the Wyland Ocean Challenge. They played in 16 cities along the edge of the Atlantic Ocean in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
The band then spent September learning a few lessons about Hurricane Season in the South! Since then, they've been performing at venues around the South and points west as they've made their way back home to San Diego County.
Here's an e-mail I received from 34Below:
