GoGirlsMusicFest Part 2 Is Thursday Night
I went to last Thursday night's Part 1 of the 5th Annual GoGirlsMusicFest at Humphrey’s Backstage Lounge and it was awesome! My only complaint was that the audience was much too small for such a great collection of talented performers! The show was so good, in fact, I plan to go back tomorrow night, Thursday, November 4, for Part 2! Bridget Brigitte is the local organizer for the concerts, and she played last week and will play again tomorrow. That's her in the center of this picture I shot last week, along with Wendy Patrick and Mike Alvarez. Bridget is one of the nicest performers I've ever met, and she was one of the first people ever to add a link from her web site to ShyCloud.com! Thanks Bridget!
The GoGirlsMusicFest is a series of showcases that feature prominent local and regional independent women musicians in performances all across the country. Inspired by Madalyn Sklar and her GoGirlsMusic.com, the concerts benefit MusiCares. Last Thursday I got a copy of the CD they produced called "GoGirlsMusicFest '04" and it features 15 great songs by independent artists from all over the U.S.! If you go tomorrow, you'll get one free with the price of admission! Corday, who will appear here tomorrow, is one of the artists on the CD.
Here in San Diego, 27 singers and bands are performing, split between last Thursday's show and tomorrow's, which begins at 6 p.m. and will feature sets lasting about 20 minutes each from Rachel Lynn, Melissa Worthington, Gayle, Karen Real, Simply Complex, Bridget Brigitte, special guest Ronny North, Diane Waters, Christi Bauerlee, Marci K, Rynata the Shredmistress, Dropjoy, Saturn’s Day, Beth Preston, and Corday.
Last week I didn't arrive until about 7:30, so I missed The Kathi Burg Band, Victoria Robertson, Michele Shipp and Saba. I did see and enjoy Jane, Bridget Brigitte, Ronny North, Joanie Mendenhall, Abigails Attic (who were my favorite act last week, as they were on Memorial Day when I first saw them!), headliner Carol Ames, Hydroplane, Mermaid’s Journey, Ashley Matte, and 3sum. Steph Johnson also snuck in for an unscheduled appearance.
Tomorrow's show is also at my favorite local place to catch musical acts, Humphrey’s Backstage Lounge on Shelter Island. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. and last past midnight. There will be a $10 cover all night. The Humphrey’s concert line is 619-523-1010. Be there! If you aren't, you'll miss what's quite likely going to be a tremendous night of music!Posted at 10:06 AM in Music
