Happy Birthday Lori Lichorobiec!
Happy Birthday to Lori Lichorobiec, who I met on Catalina Island in 1998! I shot this photo of Lori across our table while we waited for dinner one night. Both of us were there on a trip organized by our mutual friend Nadine Butler for her East Coast Transplants Club. As I recall, Lori had moved to California from the Syracuse, New York, area by way of Colorado, so she actually qualified to be in the ECT club, while I just tagged along on the trip as a local-boy pal of Nadine's.
Lori and I discovered we both wanted to see as much of Avalon as we could, so we started going off together to explore the city. On our first day we went for a long walk, then later we rented bicycles and rode as far as we could from one end of the harbor to the other. On the second day we went horse-back riding! This picture of Lori and I on our horses was taken by our guide. Lori and the guide both thought it was funny that I kept talking to my horse and encouraging her along as we rode. What can I say? I'm just a supportive kind of guy, even with animals!
When we got back to San Diego, Lori and I got together once to go to a Padres-Cardinals game, but I didn't hear much from her after that. Then about 2001 or so, I was looking up people on Google and tried her name. To my surprise, I got a link to WVIR-TV, a station in Charlottesville, Virginia, where Lori was working as an on-air reporter! I e-mailed her and she wrote back that she had taken TV classes at Grossmont after the trip, and had successfully changed her career from computers to TV!
In 2003, Lori moved from WVIR to WBOY-TV in Clarksburg, West Virginia, where she became a news anchor. She also changed her hair color from brunette to blonde! I found this photo showing Lori and her new look on the WBOY web site.
Last December Lori snail-mailed me a birthday card from Clarksburg. I don't think she is at WBOY anymore, however, and I've lost contact with her. Hopefully she'll somehow learn about this message and will get in touch.
Happy Birthday Lori! If you do read this, please write or call! I still have the same phone number you once knew. Hope all is well!
