Joanie Mendenhall At Humphrey's Tuesday
I saw multi-talented Joanie Mendenhall sing, while also taking turns playing piano, guitar and accordian, on the first night of the recent GoGirlsMusicFest! Earlier in the evening, the show's organizer, Bridget Brigitte, had introduced me to Matthew Curreri, who later played drums with the Exfriends in support of Joanie, who is one of their members. I shot these photos that night.
Joanie and the Exfriends will be one of the acts for a show billed as "Original Rock" that will begin at 8 p.m. and last until midnight this Tuesday, November 23, at my favorite club, Humphrey's Backstage Lounge on Shelter Island.
Headlined by Carol Ames, the show also will include the Steph Johnson Band and Deadline Friday. Bridget introduced me to Steph too at the GoGirlsMusicFest, and I saw Carol perform that night as well, but I didn't meet her.
Last week Joanie released "Secretary Waltz," a CD featuring 16 songs she wrote. Click on the picture of the CD to hear samples from some of its songs. You also can read more about Joanie in an article that appeared in the November 17 issue of San Diego CityBeat newspaper.Posted at 4:20 PM in Music
