Happy 8th Birthday To ShyCloud.com!

ShyCloud.com is eight years old today! I launched it onto the World Wide Web back on December 29, 1996.

During the first seven years of its life, this was a rather dull-looking web page that didn't change very much. You can see what I mean by viewing the page as it appeared on April 8, 2002.

In January of this year, though, I decided to give ShyCloud.com a new look every two weeks. That plan lasted through five editions: January 20, February 3, February 17, March 2 and March 16.

People who saw those pages kept telling me I should be creating a weblog instead, so on March 30th I posted my first message to a newly installed Greymatter blog. A few days later I switched from that to this much-better Movable Type blog, which I officially got up and running on April 13, 2004.

If you like what you see here already, you're going to love the improvements that we will be making in January! The first one you'll notice will be a new color scheme. It was gray and green from April until earlier this month, when I viewed the page on several Windows machines -- I create this site on a Macintosh -- and realized it appeared almost black on some PCs. I changed that dark and dreary background to white on December 10, but it was only intended to be a temporary look.

Another big improvement you'll see sometime in January will be the addition of a photoblog, where you'll be able to view, and even purchase if you like, a great many more of my photographs than are now visible here!

If there are any other changes you'd like to see at ShyCloud.com, please let me know soon, while I'm in my remodeling mode!
