Carol Ames Wins Songwriting Contest
Congratulations to singer/songwriter Carol Ames, whose song "West Virginia" recently won a Grand Prize in the Country category of The John Lennon Songwriting Contest! I shot this photo of Carol and two of her band members during the GoGirlsMusicFest in October.
The John Lennon Songwriting Contest is an international competition that began in 1997 and is open to amateur and professional songwriters. The contest and a John Lennon Educational Tour Bus associated with it are sponsored by such notable music industry players as Apple Computer, Maxell, and the National Association of Music Merchandisers.
"West Virginia," from Carol's latest CD "Shades of Indigo," will now compete against the Grand Prize winners in 12 other categories for Maxell Song of the Year and $20,000! That award will be announced in July. If you'd like to hear a short sample of "West Virginia," click on the picture of "Shades of Indigo" and then click again on song 6.
Even better, you can hear the winning song live, as well as many other songs, by catching Carol when she performs during two upcoming shows:
