Happy Birthday Tammie & Guy!

I'd like to wish a Happy Birthday today to two people I met back in the '70s during my years taking pictures for Tom Rusch's Covenant Ark Theatre -- Tammie (Jackson) O'Dell and Guy Sawyer! I haven't seen either of them in person since the '90s, although I almost got together with Guy earlier this month, as he was going to join me for the Padres 4th playoff game. Alas, the Padres got swept out in three games.

Tammie O'DellI met Tammie in 1976 during CAT's summer production of "Camelot," but I didn't really get to know her until the following year, when our show was "Fiddler on the Roof." I had been tremendously shy around girls during my high school and college years, so when Tammie and I started dating she became my first real girlfriend. I shot this picture of her near the end of the summer of '77. For various reasons, Tammie and I didn't last, but she always will be one of my favorite ex-girlfriends! Tammie has lived in Sedro Woolley, Washington, since the '80s. She has two sons.

Bye Bye BirdieI'm not sure what year Guy joined Covenant Ark Theatre, because it seems like he always was there the entire time I was, which was 1974-80. He was just one of the kids at first, but eventually he grew up and we became friends. That's Guy on the right in this photo I shot during the lodge scene of 1980's "Bye Bye Birdie." He was dancing after gorgeous Lisa Doria, who was playing Rosie. In the '80s, Guy visited me many times to play basketball on my backyard hoop. We had some spirited one-on-one duels, and he won most of them with splendid long-range shots, but sometimes I got hot or lucky and pulled an upset! These days Guy lives in Murrieta, California, with his wife Kim and their four daughters.

Thanks to both Tammie and Guy for some great memories from a lot of fun times together!
