Help 34Below's Steve Ybarra!

Steve YbarraIn my opinion, one of the most interesting male voices in San Diego belongs to Steve Ybarra, of the band 34Below. I shot this photo of him at Humphrey's Backstage Lounge last year.

I just received an e-mail from 34Below saying that Steve is recovering from a bout with encephalitis, and that he needs some help paying all the medical bills he's been hit with over the last few weeks.

34Below will be playing a 9 p.m. benefit concert tomorrow, Wednesday, October 19, at Canes Bar & Grill in Mission Beach.

Here's that e-mail from the band:

Save Steve!

No, it's not a Ferris Bueller thing, Steve is actually sick. He collapsed a couple weeks ago, went to the hospital and was diagnosed with encephalitis. He's recovering now but the MRI, spinal tap, and other tests left him with some hefty hospital bills.

We'll be performing a special benefit concert for him at 9 p.m. tomorrow night, Wednesday, October 19th, at Canes. You can purchase tickets for $5 on our Tour Page and all the procedes will go to help Steve out. Tell all your friends in the area to come and support the cause.

Thanks again to everyone who has already sent in e-mails wishing Steve well! He is getting better, but will be recuperating for a few weeks. We're praying for a speedy recovery and hoping he'll be back on stage soon.
